Michael Fassbender wins Best Actor at the British Independent Film Awards

These are some photos from last night’s British Independent Film Awards, where my boy Michael Fassbender took home BEST ACTOR for Shame. Woot! Other winners included Vanessa Redgrave for Best Supporting Actress, Lynne Ramsey for Best Director (We Need to Talk About Kevin), and Ralph Fiennes with “the Richard Harris Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Film” for Coriolanus. Ralph was there! Ralph and Fassy were in the same room – SWOON. They were in the same room with Benedict Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Hottie hot hottentot.

I have something terrible to admit, however. As proud as I am that Fassbender is being recognized at long last, these photos of him are leaving me cold. He looks… tired. He’s been campaigning so hard! He’s been making appearances all over the place, in Europe and America, and he’s been giving tons of interviews. What’s great about Fassbender is that he’ll stand up for his work and support it vigorously, and he can speak about his films with a lot of depth and insight. What’s bad about it is that Fassbender might get oversaturated and it might be overkill. Plus, my boy needs a good night’s sleep. And he needs to fix his hair. Whatever is happening to his ginger needs to STOP.

Everybody has been sending me all of this Fassbender stuff lately (you can too, just tweet me at KaiseratCB or email me at kaiser@celebitchy.com) – thank you all, I watch and read everything. Here are some of the better pieces I’ve been sent – go here to see Fassy’s Extra interview, here to see a longer video interview in Canada, and here to see Fassy’s USA Today interview.

PS… WTF was Bradley Cooper doing there? And why did he cut his hair to look more like Fassy?

good for him and his dong (i just saw SHAME:too cold/clinical for me but the actors are amazing and his character is like a low-key Patrick Bateman)

  2. constance says:

He did the look better than Bradley. Take that BC!

  3. Julie says:

Holy cow, I did a double take when I saw the two Fassy and Bradley Cooper photos. They look like twins! Same haircut, same suit, same shirt, same shoes. Is Bradley trying to snag some of Fassy’s success by tricking directors into thinking that he’s similar to Fassy?

Anyway, congrats to Mr Fassbender for the win! I’ve yet to actually see Shame. It came out at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this year, but hasn’t been shown anywhere else in Canada (not that I know of). Might have to actually travel to a different country to see it.

Hi Julie! Not sure where you are in Canada but just in case you can get to one of these locations:
SHAME opened in Toronto this past weekend, opens in Vancouver on December 9, Montreal on December 16 and Ottawa on January 6.

Our man’s doing good, isn’t he Kaiser? But he’s been looking so massively exhausted in the past 2 weeks or so, I do hope someone will kidnap him and force him to spend a day at a spa or something. How cute is this picture with Cumberbatch taken yesterday though: http://www.flickr.com/photos/idilsukan/6457624091/in/set-72157628285183477 ?

And I hope you caught some of the BIFA livrestream yesterday. Chris O’Dowd was SOOO DRUNK and it was gloriously hilarious. They need to reject Gervais for the GG and hire O’Dowd!

  5. birdie says:

Cumberbatch!!! Cumberbitches unite! He is so hot.
Fassbender doesn’t look tired to me.

  6. Brenda says:

LOOOVE LOOOVE LOOOVE Michael Fassbender!!!!! He is so sexy and not just b/c, he is hot but also b/c he’s so damn intelligent and a really great actor. I just watched ADM and he was incredible, Oscar worthy IMHO!!!! You got me hooked on him!!!

  7. Bellydancer says:

Mah Boo is tired and needs to spend a whole week making love and sleeping. I imagine he has gotten all that wild prison style stuff out of him and just needs to make some sweet love and rest.
I think Kaiser might be up to giving him some or if she’ll keep her slut dagger sheathed, I might be able to assist in ahem those matters.
Anyway he still looks good but he needs some TLC right now.

  8. Blue says:

I have finally gotten on the Fassbender bandwagon. He’s so yummmm. Also wtf does BC think he’s doing dressing like Fassbender. Ugh now i really don’t like him. Copycat loser.

  9. Manuela says:

    lovely lovely
he deserves it and much more. waiting for oscar.
he is great. just incredible person. Magnito))))))))))))))))
    Congratulations)))

  10. Eve says:

He may look tired but he’s still looking great in these pictures.

Plus, my boy needs a good night’s sleep.

I agree with that. So I’d like to generously offer my lap for him to take a nap (on).

And he needs to fix his hair.

I actually like his hair here.

  11. Lala says:

Saw Shame. Monster…f-ing…PENIS!!! And just freaking gorgeous naked (like I kinda wanted the movie to just be a loop of the first 5 minutes).

  12. starfish says:

Fassy! and Chewy! Give Chewitel some love y’all!

And Cumberbatch! Love me some O’Dowd gotta find a pic, and Ralph Fiennes is love. He was divine at the screening of Coriolanus it the New Yorker fest.

  13. AZ says:

    Benedict Cumberbatch! Love him!

  14. OnFassyOverload says:

Just reporting in. I got to see both “Shame” and “A Dangerous Method” this weekend and Fassbender most definitely deserves awards for Shame. My God. Raw and fearless. Also saw “Coriolanus” and would throw awards at Ralph, Vanessa and Gerard, too, but Brian Cox (Menenius) gave the performance of a career.

  15. Esmom says:

B Coop can’t hold a candle to Fassie. Sexiest Man Alive, my ass!

  16. Francesca says:

Meh; nothing going on with this guy for me.

  17. Turtle Dove says:

WTF is Coop doing? He’s totally style stalking. I hate that shit. I get it at work all the time. The mini-van brigade will watch me like a hawk and then style jack. That ain’t right.

I hate to admit it. I hate to do this… but Coop’s suit is a better cut than Fassie’s, and that kinda pisses me off too. You don’t show up to someone else’s event and try to upstage.

    Grr.

  18. Lena says:

Fassbender looks awful and he certainly doesn’t know how to wear a suit.

  19. UKHels says:

mmmm fassie darling you look pale and tired – let me put some colour in your cheeks

  20. SCREEEE says:

Woah! I page-downed, and the ridiculousness of Fassy to Bradley-as-Fassy was intense. YOU’RE NOT HIM, COOPER. Go snuggle your People mag.

It’s YOUR FAULT, Kaiser, that I’m genuinely getting obsessed with Mr Bender. Like tingles and I WANT TO TOUCH YOU obsessed. Hasn’t happened in years! And I’ve yet to see him in anything other than X-Men. I want him in my pants.

  21. darkladi says:

Bradley Cooper looks like a ferret

  22. Jenni says:

They do NOT look like twins! BC is the cheap imitation to the genuine MF!

  23. iseepinkelefants says:

Hate to say it but Bradley looks like a better version. Someone looks like the slept in their suit and couldn’t be bothered to at least look presentable.

Oh Ralph, you’re getting so old. That man used to be the sex.

Now that I think about it I can see Fassbender becoming a Ralph character. Serious about the craft (except Ralph likes his theater) and forever a bachelor dating young women.

  24. Christina says:

I’ve fallen for Fassbender. Now I see what the fuss is about, but he does look tired here for sure. Poor guy. He’s hustling, but you’re right there is a limit. I just love him now, and Shame was amazing. You have to check out this great interview he did with Steve McQueen- it’s hilarious, and he sings at the beginning! my heart melts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ci9aCESJXUQ
